Exterior Update

House is now almost completely wrapped with the drainage mat to which I referred previously.

View closer up. Although it may look like bubble-wrap, that is actually wire laid over the drainage mat.

Right now, the subcontractors are nailing in these dividers. Stucco pieces can only be so large or they will crack. The dividers will also create indentations in the stucco, similar to the reveal lines that I talked about in the baseboard discussion. We hope that these lines, along with a metal garage door, window trims, and the coming metal band and soffitt underneath the roof, will break up the monotony of an all-stucco exterior surface.

Once all of the dividers (of which the contractor claims there are hundreds) are in, the next phase will be to apply a mud-like substance in preparation for actually applying the stucco itself. The mud will have to dry (2-3 weeks) before the stucco is applied, so we will be lucky if the stucco is completed by the end of October.

But, the garage door is expected within a week!

We (and our northern neighbors) did the neighborhood a favor last week, re-paving the sidewalk. It was sorely needed. But, we probably won't pave the driveway until the end of the project.
